Thoughts

Well, Daphne is now linked at the sidebar, though I think the sidebar does obscure that a little bit. Tunabelly's my favourite sashimi! I just never got to eat it much cos it's so expensive.

The archives are a little long though and it's hiding the new link! Haha it's a sign of the blog's age! Everything is starting to fall apart especially layout wise, and it's just such an old familiar place that there is no motivation to fix it. It's kinda like my house. After living in a place that has moulded itself around the interests of my family and our lives, it takes a tremendous amount of effort to just clean it up and sever all these links we've built over the years to the past.

Heh, but I love Daphne's latest post. I think it says alot in a very gentle way that I could never manage. I totally agree with her on the state of art in Singapore, but perhaps it's just easier for us to comment on it because we're doing it to release something within us, that things just bubble up and come, and when it does all we've got to do is to catch it and do something with it. But it might be different if you had to be artistic or make a statement all the time. Which to someone might be their entire persona. The repressed, depressed soul living in Singapore with all these restrictions. The nobody understands me artist.

But really, on the question of the self-centered artist, I always thought the job of the artist is to expose his inner feelings as a representative of the human being and make the rest of us understand that our feelings are shared with at least one other person.

A work of art spawns a community of people who think and feel alike. I think that's the strength of art. Perhaps sometimes we're not part of that community.
